In the current issue of the Photonics Letters of Poland, one may find nine papers related to different aspects of photonics, including a variety of topics like: thermal infrared imaging combined with a two-step neural network-featured method as an efficient method for 3D face (masks) detection; methodology for characterization of typical CCD digital cameras with particular attention devoted to the nonlinearity correction method; demonstration of a simple and efficient method of covering standard AFM tips with nanodiamonds to make them visible under the fluorescence microscope and to suitable for performing spatially resolved magnetometry; application of different metrics (based on CIE 1931 and CIE 2015 observers) for describing the light color quality of white LED; design and implementation of the driver system for the Hamamatsu C12880MA microspectrometer; characterization of the emission spectra of rhodamine B and fluorescein solutions as a function of weight concentrations and wavelength of optical pump illumination; presentation of an algorithm for automatic detection of erroneous amplitude and phase components of a sample’s optical field, acquired by a holographic tomograph with limited angle of projection; discussion on the issues related to the need for different analyzes of the quality requirements of light sources in terms of color reproduction in the process of seeing and to the images recorded with cameras equipped with array detectors; studies on coupled nonlinear Schrödinger equations in focusing-defocousing medium solved with use of modified perturbation theory.
