Structural and optical properties of an undoped and Mn doped ZnO nanocrysatlline thin film

Abstract

In this study a ZnO:Mn nano structured film doped with manganese of different concentrations is deposited on glass substrates by the sol-gel dip coating method. Characterization techniques of XRD, SEM with EDAX and UV-Visible spectra measurements were done to investigate the effect of an Mn doping concentration on the optical and structural properties of a ZnO:Mn nanostructured thin film. XRD patterns of all nanostructured thin film show crystallization behavior and have a hexagonal wurtzite structure. Optical studies show that the band gap of ZnO:Mn decreases because of the d electron of Mn atom and band carriers of the host material.
