This issue of Photonics Letters of Poland presents a concise yet diverse set of five contributions that address key directions in contemporary photonics. The papers span high-capacity optical communication systems, advanced fabrication of transparent conductive structures, terahertz waveguiding enabled by additive manufacturing, broadband multicore fibers for biomedical imaging, and quantitative approaches to human-centric lighting.

Together, they highlight the growing importance of integrating system design, materials engineering, and cost-effective fabrication across emerging application areas, including telecommunications and healthcare, as well as sensing and lighting technologies.
